If you attended ELEMENTARY school within the RBHS district, which elementary school/ schools did you attend?

Lincoln, Bidwell

I took my own sweet time graduating from UC Berkeley and enjoyed every minute of it. Berkeley in the '60s -- center of the universe. Then the culture shock of moving to Hawaii and finding that things there moved at a considerably different pace. Back to the mainland and a temporary job with the Contra Costa County Probation Department which turned into 33 soul-killing years, leavened by a side business of consulting and training law enforcement personnel. A lifetime of good and fascinating friends, football road trips following my frustrating Golden Bears, world travel, favorite beaches, good food, tall drinks and high school reunions where we all remember the same things completely differently. I am so pleased that there will be a 55th. At our ages we really can't wait a whole decade between campfires.

What are you doing now?

Very little. Years of chronic back pain, then surgery and continuing rehab, have curtailed my travels, but I'm making plans again. I've spent two decades working on my 1906 bungalow and finding the age-appropriate furniture and other stuff for it. I don't see many people from Red Bluff; Ron Bailey has kept up and Judy Hoff ('64) has been kind enough to share her splendid offspring with me for twenty years -- my virtual kids. I recently joined the facebook page You Know You're from Red Bluff and thoroughly enjoy everybody's recollections. Check it out.

Happy birthday, Old Girl. Hard to believe we are 3/4 of a century old, plus. We'll have to have that lunch this year for sure.

Happy birthday, Jean. Do we really have to wait a year and a half for the next reunion? At our age it could be risky, attendance-wise. Maybe we can just pick a date this fall and meet at a bar -- no frills, no planning, no effort.

I hope the fire has spared you and that you are having a happy birthday. The only flames you need are the candles on your birthday cake. With so many, you might want to keep a garden hose handy.

Belated good wishes on your birthday. We should get together, preferably soon -- tick, tick, tick.

Happy happy, Don. I'll let you know next time I am driving up for my annual visits and we can meet at the side of a highway somewhere to have the visit we didn't manage to have at the reunion.

I agree, Duane.  There are several people I have gotten to know, or know better, at reunions than in high school.  It's funny how we remember people who don't remember us, and vice versa.

Happy birthday, Bob. You and my sister were two of those unfortunates who born in February and got jammed into a class of older kids. But you both turned out all right. If I had had kids, I would have held them back a year. Or two.

I remember the birthday parties when we were kids. The first one of yours that I remember was when you lived on, I think, Oak Street. It was in a big open room upstairs. I think it was your playroom. You were an only child in those days. That memory just popped into my head. I think that was before you lived in Arlington for a while. Is any of that right? Your mother and mine always seemed to be in charge of the classroom birthdays (weren't the two of them always room mothers?) Cupcakes and ice cream. I bet the teachers hated it when one of us had a birthday.

Pat, may I echo several earlier comments and say I hope to see you at the 55th reunion? Perhaps I should put it more bluntly: Get your ass in gear! Several years ago I almost had Mike Rust talked into going to the 50th. He had missed all the others. He bailed out and he won't get any more chances. Just sayin'.
